Hi there, I’m Elliot, the face behind Elliot Coates Photography.

Originally from Nottingham, I now call Derby home, and my passion for photography began at 11. From that moment on, I felt most at ease behind the lens, capturing the world and the people in it one frame at a time. I went on to study A-Level Photography, honing both my technical skills and creative vision, and after three years of dedicated learning, I launched my photography business to share stories in a way that feels authentic and meaningful.

I specialise in intimate weddings and personal celebrations, where the focus is on connection, emotion, and the people who matter most. From registry office weddings to relaxed countryside gatherings and micro-weddings at unique venues, I work with couples who want their day documented naturally, without fuss or forced moments. By focusing on personal, intimate celebrations, I can give every couple my full attention and tell their story in a way that feels honest, timeless, and personal.

Alongside photography, I work on the frontline within the NHS, supporting people through some of their most challenging moments. That experience has shaped me deeply, teaching me empathy, resilience, and the value of human connection, qualities I bring into every shoot.

For me, photography is about capturing real, unscripted moments. Whether it is a wedding, a portrait, or a personal celebration, I want people to feel relaxed and be themselves, and I will take care of the rest.
